Bleiker’s Smokehouse relaunches smoked salmon range with a new look

A family run Yorkshire smokehouse has relaunched their award-winning range with a fresh new look for 2020.

Bleiker’s Smokehouse, based at Leeming Bar in North Yorkshire have rebranded their range of innovative smoked salmon products which includes gravadlax cured with dill, sugar and black pepper; smoked salmon marinated with gin & juniper and Yorkshire Peat smoked salmon

The business was established in 1993 by Jürg Bleiker, a Swiss chef who had settled in Yorkshire and ran the Old Deanery restaurant in Ripon with wife Jane. The idea for Bleiker’s Smokehouse came after they struggled to source good quality smoked salmon to serve in the restaurant.

Today the multi-million pound business is owned and run by Jurg and Jane’s daughter and son in law Annabel and Charlie Andrew and employs 100 people processing 10 tonnes of salmon each week.

The business however still retains at its core the passion for creating the very best smoked salmon and all Bleiker’s products are hand salted, cured and smoked by their highly skilled workforce.

The new look branding and packaging has been created to appeal to a new generation of customers after a number of focus groups found that younger consumers were regularly buying smoked salmon products. 

Managing Director Charlie Andrew commented: “Our research showed that younger shoppers were frequently buying this type of product despite its presentation rather than because of it.  Consumers told us that they like smoked salmon and enjoy it as a healthy protein, but the current category offering felt old-fashioned and at odds with their lifestyle.

“The new branding was designed to appeal to a more modern shopper without putting off those who have been loyal Bleiker’s customers for years. We’re confident that the new look and feel will be loved by those who are already fans of our brand, whilst also encouraging other shoppers to pick up our products and try them for the first time.”

All of Blieker’s Smokehouse products are responsibly sourced, high in protein, high in vitamin D a source of omega 3 and available to buy from selected Morrisons, Tesco, Booths and Sainsbury’s stores and well as direct from Bleiker’s Smokehouse.
