Lancashire snail farm to open first restaurant

Lancashire based snail farm L’Escargotiere, which is understood to supply more than 200 restaurants throughout the UK, is to open its own on-site restaurant.

L’Escargotiere, which was started by entrepreneur John Rowe, is investing £100,000 in the project which will see a 60-cover venue launched this summer, with ambitious plans to create 20 new jobs by Christmas.

The restaurant’s food offering will include dishes such as escargot & venison burgers, escargot & pork sausages, escargot & mushroom soup, escargot pate and escargot salami.

There will also be an emphasis on local produce foods such as cheeses as well as afternoon tea and scones, sandwiches, light snacks and products from the farm’s own deli range.
