Llandudno-based Wild Horse Brewing Company has doubled its annual brewing capacity from 175,000 litres (308,098 pints) to 350,000 litres (616,197 pints).
The brewery has recently taken delivery of four new fermentation tanks, adding to their four existing fermenters, as well as replacing their old hot and cold liquor tanks with two new larger and more energy efficient vessels.
The new equipment was manufactured in Europe and has been supplied and installed by Lincolnshire-based brewing equipment specialists, ABUK. The tank installation took place during the first week of December as part of a £134,000 capital investment project which included extending the existing sloped resin floor and the creation of a new 600 square foot refrigerated 3⁰C cold room, which was completed earlier this year.
Two 1600l and two 3200l fermentation tanks were installed as well as two new 5500l liquor tanks, to improve the brewhouse efficiency.
Wild Horse have worked in partnership with the Welsh Government Food Division and the Development Bank of Wales to finance the project which is expected to create four new full-time jobs over the next three years.
Earlier this year Wild Horse was awarded Rural Business Investment Scheme grant funding by the Welsh Government Food Division and has also worked with the Development Bank of Wales to secure a loan to allow the project to happen.

“We’re also looking forward to releasing some new one-off beers in the new year, which we’ve not had capacity to brew since May.”
Wild Horse Brewing Company was established in Cae Bach Industrial Estate, in the Builder Street area of Llandudno, by husband and wife team Dave and Emma Faragher in March 2015. Inspired by the North American craft beer revolution, Dave began brewing on ‘half-barrel’ system producing no more than 250 litres per week.
In the first year of trading they were limited to supplying the Bank of Conwy craft beer bar in Conwy and the Queens Head pub in Glanwydden with draught beer, as well as a handful of local shops and restaurants with bottles.
In April 2016, Wild Horse expanded to a 16-hectolitre brewing system with over 9000 litres of fermentation capacity. Wild Horse has since employed 4 full-time staff and is available on tap and in bottles at more than 100 pubs, restaurants and retail locations across North Wales as well as further afield.
