The Flaming Gourmand cooks for Michelin starred chef Tom Kerridge at Knutsford’s Pub in The Park

Knutsford’s inaugural Pub in the Park took place last weekend at the Lambing Shed. Headlined by the chef Tom Kerridge, the event brought with it a stellar line up of world-class chefs, Michelin-starred pubs and live music from the likes of Tom Odell and Razorlight. Visitors were also treated to live cooking demos, an artisan market and a kids’ corner complete with cinema.

As revelers were making their way to the opening session on Friday evening, The Flaming Gourmand lit the coals for a barbecue feast like no other. The Knutsford-based gourmet barbecue caterer cooked the pre-show banquet for Tom Kerridge and his team of award-winning chefs. To celebrate the start of Pub in The Park, The Flaming Gourmand cooked a feast of Peruvian chicken, butterflied leg of lamb and Picanha beef with a selection of carefully prepared side dishes. The rotisserie-style meats were slowly cooked over hot coals then the giant skewers were theatrically displayed before carving.

When asked for his review of the food, Tom Kerridge commented, “It was absolutely delicious, I think my favourite was the lamb. I really enjoyed the individual sauces that had been created to complement each of the meats.”

The Flaming Gourmand’s creator and Grill Master Chris Martin told us, “It’s not every day you’re invited to cook for a Michelin-starred chef, especially someone as well-known and successful as Tom Kerridge! We were all quite nervous about cooking for him it but it was such an honour to be asked by Brand Events to do it, we knew it was an opportunity not to be missed. It all went incredibly well and we’re just delighted that all the chefs enjoyed our food.”

The Flaming Gourmand’s connection with the Lambing Shed predates the arrival of ‘Pub In The Park’ as they have long been a supplier of fresh meat to the catering business. Chris Martin said,

“The only way to guarantee that you’re cooking the very best food is to use fresh, top quality ingredients. We buy all our ingredients locally and make everything ourselves from scratch. It takes a lot of time to prep for our events but the end result is well worth it and our customers definitely appreciate it.”

Launched just last year, The Flaming Gourmand has already built up an impressive arsenal of grilling equipment giving them the flexibility to cater for any event large of small. This year they have catered for intimate parties, numerous Cheshire weddings of 150 plus guests and corporate events of 250 people. That’s certainly no ordinary BBQ!
