The Cumbrian entrepreneur behind the Y-tea of the Lake District brand is celebrating his first year in business by moving to larger premises.
Thomas Cheung, 23, of Egremont, started his tea business from his bedroom in 2018, and during the first year Y-tea of the Lake District has gone from a single market stall in Keswick to a suite of offices at the newly opened Stirling Place on the high street in Cleator Moor.
Y-tea of the Lake District is a classic, inspirational entrepreneurial success story. Led by founder Thomas Cheung, who moved to Cumbria, aged ten, his passion has been to see his business provide the world’s best teas to customers combined with first-class customer service. Seeing this materialise very quickly, Cheung recently announced Y-tea of the Lake District has moved to a new and larger Cumbria location to help deliver their services more efficiently to their domestic and trade customers.
“I am very proud of what Y-tea have achieved to date,” commented the passionate Cheung about his growing business. “But none of this would have happened without our customer’s support so I want to take this opportunity to thank them for believing in us and our tea.”
According to Y-tea of the Lake District, some of the highlights of their product range include the finest white teas, green teas, black teas, herbal teas, and much more. Premium teaware is also available.
The feedback from customers continues to be consistently positive.
A local B&B who serves Y-tea’s products in their business remarked in a five-star review, “We love being able to offer our guests tea sourced by a thoughtful, local company. The quality and taste are fantastic and customer service is second to none!”
Y-tea’s customers include retailers, hotels and restaurants, catering outlets, offices and the general public.
For the future, Thomas sees the business growing further, employing local people and increasing Cumbria’s presence on the food and beverage stage.
